NOTES: End times are when we will all be back in the WHS band room and dismissed, so you should be able to drive your student away a few minutes after that time. If we are out on the field etc. then we will start moving back to the band room around 10 minutes prior to the end time.

First day of band camp for COLOR GUARD, DRUMLINE, and LEADERSHIP STUDENTS. (bring a sack lunch on this day only please) Also (for those not at camp) Camp ending at 5, as jazz band students have a potluck at 5:30.

 

Drumline and guard will spend the day on warmups and basics, and as time allows go into music/choreography of the show.

Band camp for EVERYONE. Part time 8th graders dismissed at 2:30. Breakfast provided 8-8:15. Lunch provided 11:30-noon. Snack provided 2:45-3. First part of fees (and health insurance form) is due by Tuesday the 19th at 6pm.

Thurs and Fri we will have an evening block. Dinner is 4:45-5:45, and students will be off-campus and on their own for dinner. They may go buy something, brown-bag it (I can put something in a fridge), or go home for dinner and come back. Students going off-campus will need to bring back a permission slip handed out on August 18th.

 

Tuesday evening (Aug 19th) there will be an optional fun activity for the full band (such as Putters/swimming/etc. These activities will be announced on Aug 18th.

“Take-over the EMS game”. Eat dinner at home (or bring money for concessions), arrive at WHS band room by 5:45 in marching band T-shirt. Jeans or shorts ok. We’ll bus to the game, which starts at 7 with us playing (and “flagging” – is that the right word?) the national anthem. Afterward we’ll store instruments and hang out at the game for a bit. We’ll bus back at the end of the game (or before if we can) and be back at school 9:30ish. If a parent needs to take a student right after the national anthem that is fine, I just need to know in advance.

Optional – pick up game at Autzen Stadium. Students who wish to go join the UO band to march into the stadium at pre-game and play in the stands during the game. T-shirt and food provided – all is free. We will post a signup in advance as soon as it is available. This is guaranteed for juniors and seniors if they wish to go. Sophomores can go if there is space, and next Freshmen can go if there is space. We will know during band camp.

THIS HAS BEEN SCHEDULED AS A NIGHT GAME. Students going would need to be dropped off to load a bus at Mac Court (old basketball stadium on 18th and University) around 1pm and are bussed back there about 11:30pm. The UO band provides dinner, and is in charge of this event (it is put on through UO not Willamette). More details to come during band camp.
