The Willamette Marching Band performs at all home Wolverine football games, participates in multiple band competitions each season, and represents WHS and the Bethel School District regionally. Our season lasts from mid August to November, with a two week training camp before school begins. Regular practices start after school so they do not conflict with classes at WHS. Participation in the WMB is open to all students at Willamette High School, and Bethel school district 8th graders. No auditions or prior experience in marching band are required to join the WMB.

The WMB offers the following performance opportunities:

  • Colorguard
  • Percussion
  • Winds

Colorguard adds visual elements to the marching band through the use of flags, props, and dance. The front ensemble and the drumline make up the two percussion sections of the band. Drumline members march on the field with instruments that include snare drum, bass drum, and cymbals. Our front ensemble is populated by instruments too large and heavy to move around the football field including marimba, xylophone, and synthesizer. The winds section is made up of traditional concert band instruments (brass and woodwinds) with the exception of oboe and bassoon.
